Woakes becomes 9th player to appear on both batting and bowling honour boards at Lord's and Russell's rare T20 feat

England vs India

9 – The Number of players who have appeared on both batting and bowling honours boards at Lord’s. England’s Chris Woakes with a century against India in the second Test became the seventh Englishman and ninth overall to imprint his name on both the boards. He had taken two five-wicket hauls against Pakistan at the home of cricket in 2016. The eight other players to score 100 and take 5 wickets in Tests at Lord’s are: Ben Stokes, Stuart Broad, Andrew Flintoff, Ian Botham, Ray Illingworth Gubby Allen (all England), Keith Miller (Australia) and Vinoo Mankad (India).

5 – The number of times Virat Kohli has been involved in runouts in Tests. Of five instances, he himself has been out only once - in Adelaide in 2012. Since then, his partners have been out on four occasions. Cheteshwar Pujara was at the receiving end in the latest occasion when he could not make his ground after a mix-up with Kohli in the second Test at Lord’s. It was also Pujara’s third runout dismissal in the last four Tests.

4 – The number of under-21 Test debutants for England in 2018, the most for them in a calendar year. Prior to this England had not given Test cap to even three under-21 players in a year. In the second Test against India, the 20 years old batsman Ollie Pop became the fourth England player under the age of 21 to make his Test debut in 2018. The three before him were Sam Curran and Dom Bess against Pakistan and Mason Crane against Australia. The team that has given most Test caps to under-21 players in a year is Bangladesh who had eight under-21 debutants in 2002.

Caribbean Premier League

2 – The number of players who have scored a century and taken a hat-trick in the same T20 match. Jamaica Tallawahs’ Andre Russell became only the second all-rounder in 15 years history of the format to achieve this double when he grabbed three wickets off three balls against Trinbago Knight Riders and later powered his team to an improbable win by scoring an unbeaten 121 off 49 balls in a Caribbean Premier League match in Port of Spain. The only other player to have the double of century and hat-trick in same match is Joe Denly who did it last month in Vitality T20 blast.

Two is also the number of players who have taken a hat-trick in the CPL. Before Russell, Rashid Khan (Guyana Amazon Warriors) was the only one to have three in three. The Afghan leggie did it in the previous season.

40 – The number of balls taken by Russell to reach the century against Knight Riders, making it the fastest in the CPL history and breaking his own record of a 42-ball hundred against the same opponents at Basseterre in 2016.

184 – The number of runs added by Jamaica Tallawahs after losing the 5th wicket, the most by any team in T20 cricket. Jamaica were 41-5 when Russell came to the crease and from there Jamaica went on to score 225 in a successful chase. They added 184 runs after losing half the side. The previous record 147 by Badureliya Sports Club against Colombo Cricket Club at Colombo (SSC) in 2015.

13 – The number of sixes hit by Russell against Knight Riders, the most in an innings in CPL history. The previous record was 11 sixes jointly held by Chris Gayle, Evin Lewis and Russell himself. The Jamaican is now just one shy of 300 maximums in T20 cricket.

Sir Lanka vs South Africa

14 – The number of batsmen who have scored a century on ODI debut. South Africa’s Reeza Hendricks became the latest player to hit a ton on his maiden appearance when he scored 102 off 89 balls in the third ODI against Sri Lanka in Pallekele. Hendricks reached 100 off 88 balls making it the fastest century by a debutant. There are two more South Africans – Temba Bavuma and Colin Ingram – who have struck centuries in ODI debut.

Windies vs Bangladesh

2 – The number of time Bangladesh have won an away series in T20 Internationals. The 2-1 series win against Windies in Florida last week was their only second away win in T20Is after having won a series 3-0 against Ireland in Ireland in 2012. Bangladesh started off with a defeat against Windies in Saint Kitts and Nevis but came from behind and won two in a row in Florida to mark a 2-1 series win against the World T20 champions.
