There has been lot of cricket in 2017, the Cricingif team selects their best T20I batsman.
He goes down as the most reliable batsman in the Pakistan set-up at the moment. Babar Azam may not have topped the most runs chart but he was just five runs behind, with 352 in 10 matches, the topper Evin Lewis, who played nine T20Is. What made Azam stand out was his consistency with the bat during Pakistan’s tour of the West Indies earlier this year and the historic World XI tour of Pakistan, the latter being the highlight of the year for him.
Shoaib Malik has been profilic since his comeback to the limited overs team. He is an integral part of the batting order in the T20s. This year he scored 273 runs at a strike-rate of 144.44 (his career best). I know there are other batsmen who’ve scored more runs than him this year but his consistency with the bat and the pace at which he scores has turned him into one of the best and most effective modern day T20 players.
Evin Lewis - his numbers this year read as 357 runs at 9.24 RPO at an average of 44.62 per wicket. Lewis has modelled himself as Chris Gayle and has done no harm to his ability to score quick runs till now. e has taken apart attacks for fun this year in the CPL. His century against India was one of brute force and just went on to show what damage he can do on his day.
Evin Lewis: M 10 - Runs 357 – HS 125* – Avg 44.62 – 100s 1
Evin Lewis has slotted himself at the top of the order for a beleaguered West Indies side in the limited overs format, also earning the plaudits for being a successor to Chris Gayle’s legacy. His second T20I hundred came against India this year, with the first one also against the same opposition last year.
