ENG vs WI, Match 19, ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, 14 June 2019
England won by 8 wickets
BALL BY BALL
33.1 - J Holder to B Stokes
Four more and that's done and dusted! Shuffles across and just flicks it nonchalantly between mid-on and short midwicket. Brute power in those wrists!
What an anti-climax to what was anticipated to be an enthralling game of Cricket at the Hampshire Bowl. England have stomped over a languid-looking Windies team and have taken a massive NRR advantage as far as the Points Table is concerned. Windies were lacklustre with the bat and monotonous with the ball in hand and they will hope against hope that this was a one-off. The hosts, on the other hand, were clinical as long as the one-sided affair lasted. With injury concerns looming over Roy and Morgan, Root stepped up to the moment and registered a thoroughly-deserving, world-class century while batting as an opener; emulating great players who rise to the occasion and adjust their game accordingly. His ton helped England cruise through to an imposing eight-wicket triumph with over sixteen overs to spare. Right then, that's all from Momin and Rvel from the comm box and we hope to catch up with you folks tomorrow as rejuvenated Australians cross swords with Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka will be itching to get in the middle after facing rain abandonments in their last two fixtures. Goodnight and goodbye folks! See ya!
33.1 - J Holder to B Stokes
SLAPPED OFF THE BACKFOOT THROUGH THE COVERS. Thomas ran with the ball safely escorting it outside the fence and not interested in putting in the dive. That's the power of the man as this wasn't timed really well but he got enough behind it
Ov 33: 1 0 1 1 1 0 ( 4 Runs )
32.6 - O Thomas to J Root
Shortish on midriff, squeezed into the onside but there no vacancy there.
32.5 - O Thomas to B Stokes
Short and misdirected outside leg, Ben turns and slugs it to long leg for a run
32.4 - O Thomas to J Root
"Yayyy!" from the crowd and why not. Joe Root pulls this to deep backward square and brings up a magnificent century! His 2nd of this tournament and 3rd in all World Cup games. Leaps in jubilation and gets a stunning ovation. Well played to a staggering player.
32.3 - O Thomas to B Stokes
Short ball outside leg, Ben throws his hands at it swiveling to leg side, getting an under-edge that flutters to the fine leg which brings Root to strike who is on 99*
32.2 - O Thomas to B Stokes
Length delivery on off, Stokes guides it to thirdman but there is a gully placed that intercepts the bowl.
32.1 - O Thomas to J Root
Short ball asking to be pulled as it sits up at a comfortable height, chase for Lewis in the deep who hoys a flat throw, back to the keeper. Root on 99*
