World Cup 2019
AS vs MR, Match 6, KFC T20 Big Bash League 2018/2019, 23 Dec 2018
Melbourne Renegades won by 5 wickets
BALL BY BALL
19.1 - B Laughlin to M Nabi
Short, outside off stump on the back foot cutting, well timed in the air under control past third man for 4 runs. Helped over the top, what an effort by Nabi and Christian to get the Renegades over the line. The Adelaide crowd sits in stunned silence.Melbourne Renegades have shocked the reigning champions Adelaide Strikers in their own backyard at the Adelaide Oval to clinch victory by five wickets with five balls to spare. The Strikers were well on top when they reduced the visitors to 82/5 chasing 175, but then Mohammad Nabi and Dan Christian put together a brutal unbroken stand of 94 to seal the contest. They hit seven huge sixes between them with some sensational striking to put their side top of the table early in the tournament. Rashid Khan bowled a fantastic spell of 2/13 but the Renegades wisely chose to attack the other bowlers instead. The hosts will have thought their total of 174/5 was enough at the halfway point after an amazing partnership between Matt Short and Jono Wells, however they might now reflect on their slow powerplay as an area where this game was lost. All in all another fantastic night of entertainment in the Big Bash League and there is more to come tomorrow with a double-dose of festive T20 in Hobart and Sydney so be sure to join us then.
