PZ won by 7 wickets

A scintillating performance from Hasan Ali (4 for 15) and Umar Amin (61* off 39) powered Peshawar Zalmi to a thumping seven-wicket win over Lahore Qalandars.

After opting to bowl first, Hasan’s opening spell of fast bowling constructed a right platform for his side. Fakhar, Sohail, AB de Villiers and Taylor were all victims of Hasan which had left Lahore reeling at 39/4 by the end of power play.

Fakhar’s weakness against short pitched bowling was once again exploited by Peshawar. Hasan bowled a couple of length balls before dishing out a short ball which was top-edged by the batsman and safely pouched by Umaid Asif at short fine-leg.

De Villiers, who was leading Qalandars in absence of injured Hafeez, unnecessarily charged at Hasan, had his stumps rattled. Brendan Taylor’s defence was breached by Hasan with a sharp nip-backer off a good length.

Wahab Riaz then picked up three wickets to clean up the lower order, reducing Qalandars to just 78.

In reply, Shaheen Shah Afridi struck immediately to knock over Kamran Akmal with a sharp in swinger whereas Imam-ul-Haq was pinned in front of the stumps by the star of previous game, Haris Rauf.

But Umar Amin counter attacked superbly, putting away the bad balls and got to his half-century off just 34 balls. Peshawar chased down the total comfortably with 59 balls to spare.
