Pakistan Women won by 8 wickets

Pakistan stormed to a commandeering eight-wicket triumph over the West Indies to get off to a strong start to their Women's T20 World Cup campaign.

Diana Baig first wrecked West Indies' top-order with a couple of wickets in the Powerplay before the experienced Nida Dar capitalized on the early breakthroughs to stem the flow of runs.

The Caribbean side benefitted from a steady partnership between skipper Stefanie Taylor and Shemaine Campbelle for the second time in the tournament but their progress was undone by a lack of lusty blows in the death overs.

Despite ending up with a sub-par score of 124-7 in their 20 overs, it seemed West Indies had enough on the board to make a decent fist of things to get back into the contest.

Their hopes were instantly splattered by a belligerent Javeria Khan, who came out all guns blazing to smoke six boundaries in her 28-ball 35.

Her dismissal was followed by the wicket of fellow opener Muneeba Ali for a handy 25 but Pakistan ensured there were no further hiccups as they completed their highest successful chase against West Indies.
