Jos Buttler’s blistering 89 off 43 balls guided Rajasthan Royals to four-wicket win over Mumbai Indians. This was Rajasthan’s second win of the IPL 2019.
Chasing 188, Ajinkya Rahane and Jos Buttler got off to a quick fire start before the Royals skipper fell for a 21-ball 37.
With 80 required off the last ten overs, Jos Buttler and Sanju Samson kept things going on for their side.
A massive moment came in the game when Buttler smashed young Alzarri Joseph for 28 runs in the 13th over. He struck four fours and two maximums to bring the equation down to 42 runs off 42 balls.
He was dismissed in the very next over by Chahar, missing out on his hundred by 11 runs. Bumrah and Krunal Pandya did some damage for the opposition but the equation was brought down to 6 off the last over which was hunted down by Gopal.
Earlier, Rohit Sharma and Quinton de Kock had got Mumbai Indians off to a solid start but the hosts lost their way in the second half of their innings at Wankhede Stadium.
Rohit and de Kock added 96 for the first wicket before Jofra Archer got the better of the Mumbai captain.
But Suryakumar Yadav, Kieron Pollard and Ishan Kishan fell cheaply which slowed down the scoring rate for the home side.
Quinton de Kock fell for 81 off 52 balls in the 19th over but Hardik Pandya played another important cameo to lift Mumbai Indians to 187.
