NZ vs ENG, 1st T20I, New Zealand v England Twenty20 Series 2019, 01 Nov 2019
England won by 7 wickets
BALL BY BALL
Finished in style, captain Morgan gets the job done for his side. England have taken a 1-0 lead in this five match T20I series against New Zealand thanks to a seven wicket victory in Christchurch. Their bowling set the game up, restricting the Black Caps to 153/5 with debutants Sam Curran and Pat Brown taking their maiden wickets. Ross Taylor and Daryl Mitchell added some late impetus, however James Vince was the star batsman of the day with a majestic 59 in the chase. He timed the ball better than anyone on a surface that turned out to be slightly slow, earning the player of the match award. He was visibly disappointed at his tame dismissal, the third of Mitchell Santner's victims in an impressive display from the left-arm spinner. It wasn't enough for the Kiwis though as the tourists cruised to the target with nine deliveries remaining. We'll be back for the Second T20I which is in Wellington on Sunday.
18.3 - T Southee to E Morgan
Short, down leg side on the back foot pulling, well timed in the air under control over deep mid wicket for 6 runs.
Southee is so close to the perfect yorker and still the ball goes to the fence, not much he could've done better there. Santner put in a great effort but couldn't stop it getting past him.
18.2 - T Southee to E Morgan
Full toss, off stump on the front foot driving, past long off for 4 runs.
18.1 - T Southee to E Morgan

Ugly but effective, frustration for the bowler as it narrowly misses leg stump.
