Pakistan are batting first in the second tour match against Cricket Australia XI and the batsmen are continuing on their merry way. Imam-ul-Haq made a quickfire 44 off 67 deliveries, panned four boundaries to the rope before miscuing a shot. Pakistan ended the first day at 386/7.

Abid Ali struggled against the new cherry and got dismissed without troubling the scorers. Shan Masood is gaining confidence very quickly; he accumulated 76 runs off 125 balls and struck 13 fours.

Although, he wasn’t happy at missing out on converting the fifty into a hundred which can often lead to losing the advantage in a high octane game as the new batsmen have to start from the scratch, not to mention, the vulnerability of Pakistan batting line-up to nosedive whenever a wicket goes down in a pressure situation.

Haris Sohail is in a bit of a pickle as he hasn’t struck a fifty in his three innings over the course of two tour games and it looks like he is finding it a little difficult to get accustomed to the bounce and zip in the seething tracks.

Mohammad Rizwan, took a nasty blow to his finer in the last game, made an appearance today and got a good start to his innings before mistiming a shot on a probing delivery from Lloyd Pope.

Asad Shafiq and Babar Azam have yet again emerged as the most consistent batting pair. The former thumped a blazing century and is still on the crease while Babar spent a fair amount of time in the middle before losing the plot to Pope on 63.

Iftikhar Ahmed departed early in the piece as Pope continued to find ways of dismissing Pakistan batsmen meanwhile uncapped Kashif Bhatti has impressed the selectors with his rapid 56 off 47 balls.

His innings was filled with oodles of class and picturesque boundaries. On the other hand, Australia would be ruing the missed opportunity to bowl out Pakistan out under 300 but that ship has sailed now.
