Northern won by 39 runs

Haider Ali set up a remarkable display of power-hitting in his sparkling contribution while Shadab Khan excelled with both bat and ball to help Northern beat Balochistan by 39 runs.

Haider's terrific charge upfront was exemplified by supreme control and brute force to muscle the ball repeatedly outside the ground.

The 20-year-old was ably supported by Ali Imran during the explosive opening partnership between the two as their blistering strokeplay punished the lackadaisical Balochistan bowling.

Imran departed for an exuberant 22-ball 41 featuring three maximums before Balochistan tried to claw their way back into the proceedings with the scalps of Sohail Akhtar and Asif Ali.

Haider was then joined by an equally attacking Shadab in the middle as he renewed his resolve to reach the elusive three-figure mark.

However, Haider was dismissed by Akhtar Shah on the last ball of the 15th over, having thrashed the opposition for a belligerent 86 from 50 deliveries.

The strong platform laid by Haider was fortified by Shadab, who blasted an unbeaten 42 off 27 balls, taking the team to an imposing 199-6 in 20 overs.

Balochistan's chase began on a brisk note with Imam-ul-Haq and Awais Zia being rewarded for their risk-prone strokes.

Their bright start was disrupted by confusion whilst running between the wickets as Imam was caught short of his crease and had to trudge back to the pavilion after making 35.

Unfortunately for Balochistan, Imam's score turned out to be highest in their innings as they failed to stitch steady partnerships and keep them on course for an improbable win.

Shadab struck on successive deliveries to remove the dangerous Awais and Bismillah Khan as runs gradually dried up for the chasing side.

Muhammad Ismail also chipped in with two wickets while Mohammad Amir, Sohail Tanvir and Imran claimed one scalp each to restrict Balochistan to 160-8.
