Northern won by 11 runs

Northern reasserted their dominance in the National T20 Cup with a fine bowling display against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to emerge triumphant in the low-scoring encounter in Rawalpindi.

In what was effectively a dead rubber clash ahead of the semi-finals, viewers were treated to a thrilling match with numerous ebbs and flows.

Having decided to bat first, Northern were robbed of momentum early in the fray with Wahab Riaz leading the way with a destructive spell of bowling.

Northern found it hard to stitch partnerships throughout their stuttering journey before skipper Imad Wasim powered them to a competitive total with a boundary spree.

Imad struck six fours in his rapid contribution of 36 runs from 20 deliveries as Northern managed to crawl to 144-9 in their 20 overs.

Wahab brought his vintage best to the fore as he successfully tamed the likes of Haider Ali and Asif Ali with express pace and tight lines.

The veteran left-arm fast bowler snaffled five wickets for 21 runs in his frugal spell, dismantling the Northern batting with his accuracy.

In response, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's innings was held together by a splendid effort from teenager Mohammad Haris, who scored an unbeaten 79 embellished by nine fours and a solitary maximum.

Barring Haris' defiant knock, there was a stark absence of any meaningful score from the rest of the batsmen with no player making more than Fakhar Zaman's 11.

Northern's bowling masterclass was exemplified by perfect application of pressure and drying up the flow of runs.

Haris Rauf was the chief protagonist for his team as he returned impressive figures of three for 28 and held on to important catches to cap off a remarkable performance.

Northern edged out the opposition by 11 runs as Haris failed to take his team over the line amidst the climbing asking rate.
