Star South African batsman AB De Villiers returned to competitive cricket with a blistering century during a domestic 50-over contest.
Batting for Northerns against Easterns, the right-handed batsman hit 134 off 103 deliveries to chase 200 under 20 overs. De Villiers reached the 50-run mark at run-a-ball, but took 37 balls to enter into triple digits. His next 34 came at a strike rate of over 214.
The former Test captain has been out of the international scene since mid-2016 due to his battle with an elbow injury. He stepped down from the role after Faf du Plessis led South Africa to a historic 1-2 Test series win in Australia last year.
‘Mr. 360’ may return to the national colours earlier than expected during the third T20 International against Sri Lanka on Wednesday.
