English batsman Kevin Pietersen pulled out of the 10th edition of the Indian Premier League on Friday.
The 36-year-old tweeted that he had been “too busy” all winter and did not wish to spend more time away.
FYI - I won't be going into the IPL auction. My winter has been too busy with all my travel & I don't want to spend April/May away too!— KP (@KP24) February 3, 2017
Pietersen was signed by Rising Pune Supergiants for $520,000 in 2016. However, they let him go in December, meaning Pietersen would have had to be bought by a franchise during the player auction to be held later this month.
Pietersen will feature in the second edition of the Pakistan Super League which starts from February 9. In the inaugural edition, he scored 215 runs for Quetta Gladiators — crossing the 50-run mark once — at an average of 27.
