Karachi Kings made a tremendous start to their PSL campaign as they thumped Gladiators by 19-runs in the second game of the PSL 2018. This was Karachi’s first win over Quetta over the last two seasons. Karachi’s decision to bowl first came as a surprise given teams like to chase down totals at Dubai. Joe Denly and Khurram Manzoor started well but Gladiators stopped the run flow of Kings but Ingram smashed 41 off 21 balls to give his side a ray of hope.
Kings were going along well but they lost the plot in the last couple of overs as they lost wickets in a quick succession. In the three overs, Kings scored 18 runs and lost five wickets in return as they ended up scoring 149 runs. Watson grabbed three wickets in the last over and he was undoubtedly the pick of the bowlers.
Gladiators’ run chase was poor, as they lost the plot in the Powerplay. Watson was involved in a comical run out, Asad Shafiq holed out to deep square leg whereas Pietersen got through his shot early to give a simple catch for Ravi Bopara. The highlight of the match was Afridi’s fantastic effort at the boundary to get rid of Umar Amin.
Colin Ingram was declared man of the match for his 41 off 21 balls.
