Lahore Qalandars woes continued in their opening match of the PSL-3 as they collapsed from 105-2 to 136 all out. With a target of 180 runs to chase, Qalandars were going along well but the wicket of Fakhar sparked a collapse and it was all over.
After winning the toss and opting to bowl first, Qalandars’ bowling was given a tough time by the likes of Kumar Sangakkara and Ahmed Shehzad. Sangakkara continued his blistering form, placing the ball expertly to all parts of the ground including few cheeky shots off Aamer Yamin’s bowling. Adding to that, Malik provided the finishing touches by showing his prowess against spinners.
Narine was promoted to open the batting with Fakhar who did some fireworks before perishing to Irfan. Brendon McCullum bagged a duck when he ramped a short-ish ball from Irfan but couldn’t get it up and over deep third man’s head.
Umar Akmal and Fakhar Zaman added a 65-run partnership but it all began when Zaman was caught at the boundary courtesy a brilliant diving catch from Ahmed Shehzad. Imran Tahir spun Sohail Akhtar and Aamer Yamin into his web before Junaid Khan got the second hat-trick of the PSL to put Qalandar’s chances to bed.
