Bowlers, Kevin Pietersen helped Quetta edge Islamabad by six wickets in the ninth match of the Pakistan Super League. After winning the toss and bowling first, Quetta were hammered by Luke Ronchi who smashed 43 off 26 balls. Rest of Islamabad’s batting struggled on a skiddy Sharjah surface including the South African veteran JP Duminy who only managed to put on only 14 off 26 balls.
Faheem Ashraf played a little cameo of 21 off 13 balls but Islamabad only managed to put on 134 by the end of 20 overs.
Quetta’s run chase began with a 16-ball 22 but eventually lost their top three batsmen in a quick span of time. Kevin Pietersen and Mohammad Nawaz put on a 70-run partnership to see Quetta home easily. There were moments during the match when Islamabad had squeezed Quetta but Quetta batsmen kept on releasing pressure by scoring boundaries.
In addition to Islamabad’s woes, Rumman Raees was injured whilst fielding at long-on and it remains to be seen whether how serious his injury is and whether he can participate further in the Pakistan Super League.
