United end Karachi's streak with 8-wicket win

The table-toppers were up against Islamabad United in match 15 of PSL 2018. Karachi Kings seemed rusty as United ended their three-match winning streak in style. They chased down the target of 154 in 17.2 overs, with eight wickets in hand.

Karachi dropped to the second spot on the points table while United with 6 points and a better net run-rate move to the third spot.

Karachi Kings were put into bat by Islamabad United on a pitch that looked decent for batting. Karachi lost Joe Denly in the second over for 4. Babar Azam and Khurram Manzoor steadied the innings with a 101-run stand. Manzoor (51 off 41) scored his first PSL fifty while Azam made 55 off 53 – this was his highest PSL score and just his second half-century.

Karachi were looking good to post a target in excess of 160 at one point. But they crumbled from 107 for 1 to 126 for 5. Faheem Ashraf took two wickets in the sixteenth over: he got rid of Manzoor and the dangerous Colin Ingram. Karachi’s innings was derailed at the right time by United’s bowlers. Wickets tumbled at regular intervals, and Karachi managed to post a target of 154. Faheem was the pick of the bowlers for United with figures of 3 for 23.

Islamabad United had issues with their batting since the start of this season but not tonight. They opened with JP Duminy and Luke Ronchi who posted a match-winning 104 off 65; the second hundred run stand of the match. Ronchi (71 off 37) was dismissed by a brilliant caught and bowled by Irfan Jr.

Protea T20 captain JP Duminy found form at the right time, he scored 43 off 44 balls and saw his team home.
