Sultans edged Peshawar by 19 runs in the 16th match of the Pakistan Super League. After being put in to bat first, Multan were off to a steady start but the real damage came when Dawson defeated Sangakkara with a change of pace and trajectory and knocking over his stumps.
Ahmed Shehzad was struggling to get going but Sohaib Maqsood covered up for him as he looked aggressive in his approach from the start. Turned out, he took apart Peshawar bowling, smashing them to all parts of the ground. His 42-ball 85 was critical to Multan’s chances as they reached 183 after 20 overs.
Peshawar’s top order struggled early on the run chase excluding the skipper Mohammad Hafeez who stayed till the end but couldn’t finish things off. With 50 required off the last three overs, Hafeez went after Junaid Khan and that over cost 17 to Multan Sultans. The next over, however, was a turning point in the match as Sohail Tanvir got rid of Dawson and Hammad Azam in the second last over which brought the end to Peshawar’s chances in the game.
Sohaib Maqsood was declared man of the match for his blistering knock.
