Islamabad stream-rolled Qalandars in the 18th match of the Pakistan Super League as Lahore failed to impress for the sixth time in this year’s edition. The change in Lahore’s batting worked out well as Devcich was replacing Umer Akmal in the line-up. Devcich and Zaman opened the batting for Lahore and they were off to a decent start before Zaman fell to Duminy.
The rest of the batting including Agha Salman and in particular Dinesh Ramdin, who is yet to score a boundary in this year’s PSL struggled quite a lot to rotate the strike. That in turn put pressure on Devcich who departed for 62 off 42 balls. Lahore were 94-1 in the overs 1-10 but the next seven overs only yielded 29. Brendon McCullum came down the order and gave a few blows to Islamabad to lift the final score to 163 but they were at least 30 runs short.
In reply, Luke Ronchi continued his blistering form as he gave Islamabad a breezy start and never let the RRR build up. Duminy fell to the off-break of Narine and Shadab was promoted up the order. He ended up with 32 off 24 and Ronchi holed out to deep mid-wicket after scoring 77 off 41 balls which included five boundaries and six maximums.
Ronchi was declared man of the match for his scintillating innings.
