Quetta Gladiators make it two in two nights as they comprehensively defeated Karachi Kings by 67 runs which also became the highest victory margin in the history of the Pakistan Super League. They overtake Peshawar, Karachi and Islamabad to claim the second spot on the points table. Karachi Kings who were the table-toppers not so long ago move to the number four spot.
Karachi Kings never looked like chasing down 181 at any stage of the innings. They opened with Shahid Afridi (1 off 6) in hope of getting off to a flying start but that didn’t work out as he fell in the second over. Mohammad Nawaz had already dismissed Joe Denly (1 off 3) in the first over; Karachi were 2 for 2 in two. Babar Azam (32 off 32) looked promising with his shots yet again but failed to capitalise. Karachi only managed to score 113/8. Quetta’s bowlers were brilliant throughout the match: Rahat and Anwar Ali shared two wickets each while Nawaz, Shane Watson, Hassan Khan and Ben Laughlin had one each.
Earlier, Shane Watson and Kevin Peireren’s 86(58) run second wicket partnership set the tone for Quetta Gladiators. The two T20 giants batted with authority: KP scored 52 off 34 while Shane Watson scored an unbeaten 90 off 58. Watson’s batting heroics earned him the player of the match award.
