Rain hands Kings first win

Ball-by-ball highlights

It was the rain that triumphed in the end

It had to be a divine intervention that could get Karachi Kings off the mark and it came in their fourth contest.

Having opted to bowl first on the tacky Sharjah wicket, Kings restricted Islamabad United to 90 in the 13 overs. The match was initially reduced to 18 overs due to erratic showers which had pushed the toss 75 minutes behind its scheduled time.

Imad Wasim made early inroads by removing Sam Billings for nought on the second ball. He caught Brad Haddin off his own ball in his next over.

Leg-spinner Usama Mir picked up later in the innings as he removed Misbah-ul-Haq and Dwayne Smith.

Chris Gayle failed once again as he was removed by Mohammad Irfan in the first over. Babar Azam, however, kept the flow of runs coming from the other end – dispatching Mohammad Sami for two fours and a six in the next over.
