Peshawar Zalmi defeated Lahore Qalandars by 7 wickets and qualified for the playoffs third year in a row. Lahore started the tournament with a loss and ended their campaign in similar fashion. Peshawar with 10 points have moved to the second spot on the points table. If Karachi Kings win their last game, they will take the second spot from Peshawar.
Kamran Akmal hit the first century of this season and ensured his team chased down the target of 173 with two overs to spare. This is Akmal’s second century in Pakistan Super League. He scored one last year as well. Akmal’s knock of 107 not-out also made him the top-scorer of the league with 347 runs and earned him a back to back player of the match award. Saad Nasim played a cameo (17 off 8) along with Akmal to help cross the finish line. Lahore’s bowling and fielding were off-colour throughout the innings. Shaheen Afridi went wicketless but was the most economical with figures of 28 for 0 from 4 overs. Yasir Shah took 2 for 40.
Earlier, Lahore won the toss and chose to bat first. They posted a total of 172/4. Anton Devcich top scored with 70 off just 42 balls. Gulraiz Sadaf and Sohail Akhtar smashed 53 off 31 for the fifth wicket to ensure their team posted a fighting total. Hassan Ali was the pick of the bowlers for Zalmi, he took 2 for 24.
