Luke Ronchi demolished Karachi Kings to book a place in the final of the Pakistan Super League to be held in Karachi on the 25th of March.
Karachi Kings will fly to Lahore to face the winner of the 1st eliminator between Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators on 21st March at the Gaddafi Stadium.
At the innings break, Islamabad United were given the target of 155. Karachi seemed to be 20-30 runs short, but the target still seemed competitive enough. If only everyone knew what was to follow, Luke Ronchi single-handedly brought the Dubai International Stadium to life. He played every shot in the book, hit 12 fours and five sixes to reach 94 off just 39 balls. This was also the fastest 50 in PSL’s history, Ronchi took only 19 balls to get there. This performance deservingly earned Ronchi his fourth player of the match award this season- the man is just unstoppable! Islamabad United chased down the target in 12.3 overs and had eight wickets in hand.
Earlier, Karachi Kings won the toss and chose to bat first. Their decision to bat first backfired as they lost two wickets for 17 in the 4th over: the in-form Babar Azam went for a duck. From there on Karachi played the catching game. It was Joe Denly (51 off 46) and Colin Ingram (68* off 39) who hit 82 off 57 for the fourth wicket to rescue Karachi’s sinking innings. Karachi ended up with 154/4. Mohammed Sami was once again sensational with the ball; he took 2 for 20.
