Fawad Ahmed, Sheldon Cottrell and Babar Hayat stood out as the key players as Vancouver Knights edged Winnipeg Hawks by six wickets in the fifth game of the Global T20 Canada League.
Sheldon Cottrell and Fawad Ahmed did most of the damage for the Winnipeg Hawks as the duo shared six wickets – shattering Hawks’ chances to score big.
However, skipper Dwayne Bravo and Tion Webster shared a 54-run stand to get their side back on track. Tion Webster was the only batsman who found fluency in his stroke-play, scoring 49 off 34 balls and giving his side 157 to defend.
Paceman Ali Khan impressed yet again by bowling quick and extracting lateral movement to put the opposition batsmen under pressure. He trapped Chris Gayle infront from round-the-wicket angle and defeated Walton by extra nip off the deck to take the outside edge of his blade.
But Babar Hayat’s impressive 65 off 33 balls which comprised of three fours and five maximums ensured there wasn’t any problem for Vancouver Knights in the run chase as they completed a comprehensive win with 14 balls to spare.
