CWI B Team maintained their perfect record with their fourth win in as many games with an eight-wicket thumping of Toronto Nationals. For the Nationals, it was their third loss in four games, with their qualification chances getting a major hit.
Put into bat first, the Nationals could only manage 128 for five, with Steve Smith top scoring with 55*. Both their openers, Kamran Akmal and Johnson Charles fell early in the piece before Smith and Anton Devcich revived their innings with a bit. But once Devcich fell, no one from the lower middle-order could give the push. Even skipper Daren Sammy’s knock of 23* came off 26 balls.
In reply, CWI B openers Justin Greaves and Sherfane Rutherford did the major by scoring 45 and 37 respectively before Brandon King and Nicholas Pooran finished the game inside 15 overs.
With the victory, CWI B have also sealed a spot in the next round.
Justin Greaves was adjudged man of the match for his all-round performance.
