Sandeep Lamichhane’s three wickets backed up with Sunil Narine’s cameo proved critical in Tigers’ win over Cricket West Indies team in the 1st match of the second round of the Global T20 Canada League.
Being put in to bat first, West Indies team scored 162 with a solid contribution from Springer at the top of the order. Springer scored 62 off 40 balls which included seven boundaries and three maximums. Rest of the batting couldn’t quite kick on, thanks to Lamichhane’s figures of 3-31. Sandeep nipped out Springer, King and Pooran to put brakes on the oppositions’ strategy to go broke.
In reply, Sunil Narine proved to be instrumental at the top of the order and his blistering knock of 61 from 25 balls ensured that the game was finished right at the start of the run-chase. Narine smashed only one boundary but nine towering sixes in his innings. That ensured the rest of the batters including Henriques, Sikandar Raza and Najibullah Zadran to finish the target with 14 balls to spare.
Narine was undoubtedly declared man of the match for his game-changing innings.
