Match Tied (Royal Challengers Bangalore win one-over eliminator)
Shimron Hetmyer smashed the third-fastest ton of the CPL as Warriors blazed their way past Tallawahs by 71 runs in the 11th match of CPL 2018.
Tallawahs had made a solid start to their CPL campaign but they lost their last eight wickets for just 35 runs which closed out the doors for a possible run-chase in this game.
The 21-year-old Hetmyer dominated the proceedings for 13.2 overs as he alongside Shoaib Malik stitched a 108-run partnership. Shoaib Malik took on the veteran Samuel Badree for three consecutive sixes and reached his 50 in just 32 balls. Hetmyer struck smashed 11 boundaries and 5 maximums in his 49 ball knock.
In reply, Tallawahs lost Kennar Lewis in the first over when he tried to heave the ball over long-on off Keemo Paul’s bowling. The Kiwi duo of Phillips and Taylor accumulated a 66-run partnership before Ross Taylor played an ordinary shot, trying to paddle the ball fine but was easily caught by Ronchi.
Miller joined Phillips and at the halfway stage as the Tallawahs were set at 101/2, before three wickets in six balls turned things decisively in the Warriors’ way.
Miller ran himself out and after that there was carnage all over the place for Tallawahs. Green and Tahir picked up two wickets each while Bishoo bagged one scalp.
Hetmyer was declared man of the match for his game-changing innings.
