Munro heroics help Knight Riders clinch 4th victory in a row

Scorecard & ball-by-ball St Kitts & Nevis Patriots vs Trinbago Knight Riders, Match 23, Warner Park

The 23rd match of the Caribbean Premier League was played between defending champions Trinbago Knight Riders and St Kitts & Nevis Patriots. It proved to be a smooth sailing for TKR as they made it four in a row by defeating St Kitts & Patriots by 46 runs at Warner Park.

TKR were put into bat first; they lost both their openers, Sunil Narine and Chris Lynn in the first six overs. Brendon McCullum and Colin Munro rebuilt the innings, they stitched a third-wicket partnership of 78 off 63 to take the score to 112/2 before McCullum was dismissed by Alzarri Joseph for 35 in the 15th over. Munro went on to smash 76 not-out: this was his fourth fifty of the tournament. Later, captain Dwayne Bravo’s unreal hitting helped TKR post 199/4. DJ Bravo hit Alzarri Joseph for 5 consecutive sixes, ensuring his team were in a commanding position at half-time. SKNP’s bowling lacked discipline, none of them could manage an economy-rate less than 8.75

In pursuit of 200, Chris Gayle got out cheaply for 9. Evin Lewis was the only batsman who troubled the opposition, he scored 52 off 37. Devon Thomas (23 off 22) and Carlos Brathwaite (21 off 18) were the only other two players who managed to spend some time at the crease. Sunil Narine despite not taking any wickets was the most economical with the ball, his 4 over spell went for just 22 runs. The young fast bowler, Anderson Phillip took 3/40 including the prized wickets of Chris Gayle and Evin Lewis.

In the end, St Kitts & Nevis Patriots could only score 153/8, they fell short by 46 runs.
