Hasan Ali plays down the absence of Virat Kohli at Asia Cup

Pakistan’s star paceman Hasan Ali has expressed his disappointment over the absence of India’s ace batsman Virat Kohli from the Asia Cup, however, he has warned his side of being complacent as he still sees India as a massive threat in the absence of Virat Kohli.

“No doubt Virat Kohli is a great player, a real match-winner, but the Indian team is still very good even without him.

“Every young player wants to get the wicket of a batsman like him [Kohli]. It’s unfortunate that he is not coming to the Asia Cup.”

Kohli was rested from the six-team tournament considering the heavy workload of International cricket and his presence in all three formats.

Going into the tournament, Hasan stated that Pakistan will make the most out of their experience of playing in the UAE.

“India and Sri Lanka are familiar with the conditions in the UAE. It’s our home conditions as well. So we’ll try to use our experience and play good cricket against all the oppositions.”

Asked about the rumours of not wanting to play Test cricket, Hasan completely denied such claims and looked determined on replicating his white-ball performances in Test cricket.

“I love to play Test cricket. I have already debuted for the Test team, and I’ll try to replicate my limited over performances in Test cricket as well.”

On bettering Kohli’s score in the Yo-Yo test, the paceman added that he has no competition with Kohli in that regard and is completely focused on his game.

“I have been playing all three formats so obviously there is more workload and the pressure to perform as well.

“But there is no competition with Virat Kohli in that regard. He is a legend and our senior. I just try to focus on my game and stay fit,” he concluded.
