The chasing teams continued to be successful as Balkh Legends rode on Ryan ten Doeschate’s 46-ball 78* to power his side home over Kabul Zwanan in the third match of 2018 Afghanistan Premier League.
Asked to bat first, Kabul posted 176/6, courtesy skipper Rashid Khan and Englishman Laurie Evans’ fifties. After being reduced to 3-32 early on courtesy strikes from Balkh skipper Mohammad Nabi. Javed Ahmadi and Laurie Evans put Kabul’s innings back on track before a double strike resulted in Kabul being reduced to 5-76. That brought Rashid Khan in the middle, who combined with Evans to add 96 on just 50 balls to set a very good score from a precarious situation. Evans was bowled by Aftab Alam in the last over while Khan remained not out on 56.
Mohammad Nabi and Aftab Alam shared two wickets each for Balkh.
In reply, Balkh never looked troubled except for the early wicket of Colin Munro. Ten Doeschate and Usman Ghani added 59 for the second wicket partnership before Ravi Bopara joined his Essex teammate to see Balkh home with ease. Ten Doeschate remained not out on 78 while Bopara finished with 21-ball 38*.
Ryan ten Doeschate was adjudged man of the match for his blistering match-winning performance.
