Paktia Panthers managed to get a victory despite Ben Cutting’s whirlwind 71 off 39 balls. After winning the toss and opting to bat first, Panthers posted a total of 184 with some major contributions from the skipper Mohammad Shahzad (53 off 31), Cameron Delport (35 off 22) and Samiullah Shenwari (38 off 25).
Ihsanullah was dismissed early in the peace by a skidding delivery from Mujeeb Ur Rahman. Delport and Shahzad stitched an 80-run partnership to trouble the Leopards’ bowlers. Shahzad was particularly hard to bowl with his unorthodox style of play. Samiullah Shenwari delivered few blows towards the end of the innings to propel the score to 184. Ben Cutting managed to get three wickets including the big one of Shahid Afridi.
In reply to Paktia’s innings, Leopards batsmen looked sloppy from the start of the innings. At one point, they were 51/5 before Hashmatullah Shahidi (49* off 36) and Ben Cutting instilled a hope in their side. The game was almost brought to level when Cutting smashed 25 off the 18th over to close down the equation. Despite the early damage done in the run-chase, Leopards couldn’t close down the game.
However, Ben Cutting was declared man of the match for his 71 off 39 balls which included six fours and as many maximums.
