Chris Gayle (80 off 48), Darwish Rasooli (50 off 27) stood out for Balkh Legends despite a scare from Hazratullah Zazai as the table-toppers managed to pull-off a 21 run win in the 14th match of the Afghanistan Premier League.
After opting to bat first, Balkh Legends posted a mammoth 244, thanks to the contributions from Chris Gayle, Munaweera and Darwish Rasooli. Gayle was initially watchful in his approach but got himself into a destructive mode as he ended up hitting two boundaries and ten maximums. Young Darwish Rasooli scored a half-century off just 27 balls while Nabi’s cameo at the end propelled Legends to a massive 244.
In reply, Zwanan were off to a terrific start as Hazratullah Zazai raced to his half-century in just 12 balls, smashing six sixes in one over off Abdullah Mazai. That fifty made it the joint fastest in T20 cricket alongside Chris Gayle and Yuvraj Singh.
Luke Ronchi was on the charge as well, scoring 47 off 38 balls. However, Ben Laughlin, Mirwais Ashraf and Qais Ahmed managed to bowl a few tight overs to shift the momentum to Balkh Legends’ side. By the end of 20 overs, Kabul Zwanan managed to put on 223, falling short of the target by 21 runs.
Chris Gayle was declared man of the match for his 80 runs off 48 balls.
