Paktia Panthers got their fourth win of the tournament when their bowlers got the better of Nangarhar Leopards as they were dismissed for 126. In return, Paktia Panthers chased down the target in 14.4 overs, thanks to Mohammad Shahzad’s 78 off 43 balls.
Anton Devich had a tough time against Shahid Afridi as he was cleaned up by the star all-rounder. Ziaur Rahman removed Najeeb Tarakai and Johnson Charles as Leopards were 4/54 at one stage from nine overs. Leopards missed out on key partnerships which reduced their chances of putting up a big total.
They were bowled out for 126 with three wickets to Ziaur Rahman and two wickets each for Isuru Udana and Shahid Afridi.
In reply, skipper Mohammad Shahzad gave a perfect start to his side with his powerful shots all-round the park. Ihsanullah was caught by Naveen-ul-Haq off Mujeeb’s bowling while Sandeep Lamichhane removed Delport and Sikandar Raza in quick succession but that wasn’t enough to hurt the Panthers as they were still well and truly in a strong position with few runs left to finish things off.
Mohammad Shahzad ended up scoring 78 off 43 balls and he was declared man of the match for his performance.
