Kabul Zwanan edged Kandahar Knights in the 16th match of the Afghanistan Premier League as Rashid Khan’s batting heroics saw his side get over the line by four wickets.
With 154 to win, Kabul started off swiftly as Luke Ronchi smashed 31 off just 14 balls but was dismissed by Sayed Shirzad. The tormenter from the previous game, Hazratullah Zazai was cleaned up by the same bowler as he managed to put on 16 off 12 balls.
At one point, Kabul were 5/97 but Laurie Evans stood his ground to keep one end intact.
With 24 required off the last two overs, Rashid Khan smashed three sixes and a boundary (single at the start from Evans) as Kabul required only one run of the last over which was completed by Laurie Evans.
Earlier, Kandahar Knights had accumulated 152 from 20 overs with most of the job done by their skipper, Asghar Afghan who smashed 60 off just 31 balls (four boundaries and six maximums).
Rashid Khan was declared man of the match for his economical spell and game-changing cameo.
