Nangarhar Leopards got their third win of the tournament as they edged the table toppers, Balkh Legends by six wickets in the 17th match of the Afghanistan Premier League.
After opting to bat first, Legends only managed to get 133 from 20 overs as Naveen-ul-Haq, Fazal Niazai and Zahir Khan got two wickets each. Openers Munaweera and Munro were dismissed early, however, Darwish Rasooli and Ten Doeschate got into the 20’s but couldn’t kick on to get a big score.
Ravi Bopara scored 35 off 32 balls which gave the Legends a score of 133 which wasn’t quite enough for their bowlers to defend.
In reply, Andre Fletcher gave his side a quick start as he smashed a quick-fire 48 off 22 balls (two fours and six maximums). However, Qais Ahmad picked up three wickets in quick succession to give Leopards a bit of scare during the run chase. Hashmatullah Shahidi (31) and Shafiqullah (27) stitched a 51-run partnership to see their side home with two overs to spare.
Andre Fletcher was declared man of the match for his whirlwind innings at the top of the order.
