Colin Ingram’s 51-ball 83 went in vain as Mohammad Shahzad and Shahid Afridi saw Paktia Panthers get over the line against Kabul Zwanan in the 20th match of the Afghanistan Premier League.
After winning the toss and opting to bat first, Kabul lost their dangerous opening duo of Ronchi and Zazai early in the peace. Isuru Udana was the man to get rid of the duo as Paktia Panthers were off to a terrific start.
To the surprise of many people, Wayne Parnell was promoted up the order and he did exactly what was required from him. The South African struck three boundaries and three maximums for his 28-ball 42. Skipper Colin Ingram remained unbeaten for his 51-ball 83 as Kabul Zwanan managed to accumulate 168 from 20 overs.
In reply, skipper Shahzad continued his blistering form as the Afghan keeper smashed 62 runs off just 37 balls as Panthers were off to a blistering start. Calum Macloed scored 35 off 30 but it was Shahid Afridi who finished things off with his 19-ball 30. The former Pakistan skipper struck a boundary of Wayne Parnell as his side prevailed against Kabul Zwanan.
Mohammad Shahzad was declared man of the match for his game-changing innings.
