Chris Gayle (54 off 30), Darwish Rasooli (78 off 45) and Mohammad Nabi’s all-round performance helped Balkh Legends rout Nangarhar Leopards in the 1st Semi Final of the Afghanistan Premier League 2018.
Opting to bat first, Legends were off to a flying start as Chris Gayle continued his blistering form, smashing 54 off just 30 balls which included nine boundaries and two maximums. Legends lost their first wicket on 75 but the young Darwish Rasooli continued to impress. His 78 off 45 balls included seven fours and four maximums.
Skipper Nabi looked in fantastic touch as his quick fire 47 off 16 deliveries at a strike rate of 293 propelled the Legends to 235 by the end of 20 overs.
Leopards, in reply, collapsed like a pack of cards as none of the batsmen resisted hard enough to put on a score. Mohammad Nabi’s all-round prowess came to the fore as he removed Fletcher, Charles and Hashmatullah Shahidi from the top order as Leopards were reduced to 37/6 at one point.
Mirwais Ashraf chipped in with two wickets and the young Qais Ahmed picked up three wickets as Leopards were bowled out for 64 in 13.1 overs, giving Legends a mammoth win of 171 runs and a spot in the finals.
Mohammad Nabi was declared man of the match for his blistering 47 off 16 balls and four wickets with the ball.
