Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has called up 13 players for a four-day training camp to be held at the Gaddafi Stadium Lahore. The players include a mix of senior team members alongside a few youngsters, who will report at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) on 4 April.
The senior players include Misbah-ul-Haq, Younis Khan, Sami Aslam, Azhar Ali, Shan Masood, Asad Shafiq, Yasir Shah, Sohail Khan and Rahat Ali. While Shan Masood was dropped following his failures in England last summer, Aslam hasn’t done much either lately. But with a decent showing in the domestic cricket both the players will have a shot at the opening slot as Hafeez is likely to be sidelined.
The young rookies called up for the camp include middle-order batsman Usman Salahuddin, Khan Research Laboratories (KRL) fast bowler Muhammad Abbas, teenager Asad Raza, and Khalid Usman, who plays for Wapda and Peshawar in domestic cricket.
Some of the team members, including the new Test vice-captain Sarfaraz Ahmad, Wahab Riaz and Muhammad Amir are already in West Indies with the limited-overs squad. The final Test team is expected to be announced after the camp.
The first Test of the three-match series starts April 22 at Kingston, Jamaica.
