Corey Anderson has been ruled out of the one-day series against Pakistan due to heel injury while Todd Astle remains doubtful with a knee trouble.
Anderson will be heading back home as the heel problem left him out of the final T20I against Pakistan. Astle is certain to miss out the first ODI and will be monitored over the course of time. He is also a part of the three Tests which follow the ODIs.
“Todd's made good progress over the past couple of days and with his involvement in both the ODI and Test squads; we're keen to give him every chance to be right," said New Zealand coach Gary Stead.
New Zealand have included left-arm spinner Ajaz Patel to the squad as cover for Astle.
"It does present another opportunity for Ajaz. He's impressed us during the UAE tour so far and we have full confidence he can do a job for this team in the 50-over format," Stead said.
