After Sindh, Balochistan benefitted from rain in the continuing Pakistan Cup as they were 4 runs ahead of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) when it poured in Rawalpindi on Saturday.
Balochistan captain Fakhar Zaman was awarded Man-of-the-Match for his 69-ball 73, hitting nine fours, while beginning the chase of 324. He was complimented by Sahibzada Farhan (58 off 63) as the two went on to put a belligerent 116-run stand in 18.4 overs. Sohaib Maqsood, batting at one-drop, struck an unbeaten run-a-ball 52. After the completion of the 36th over, the covers had to be pulled on the ground. Balochistan were 212 for 3 by then.
Earlier, Iftikhar Ahmad struck a brilliant 138 not out in 129 balls with 12 boundaries – hitting equal number of fours and sixes. The right-hander came in to bat in the eighth over after Imran Butt was run out for 25 (29). Ahmed struck a 127-run partnership with Mohammad Naeem who made 80 in 75 balls.
KPK captain Mohammad Rizwan contributed 56 from 46 balls at number four, smashing seven fours.
Federal Areas and Punjab play on Sunday.
