Rain abandons Federal Areas-Punjab match

Federal Areas and Punjab shared points in the seventh Pakistan Cup contest as rain stopped play in the 39th over of the first innings.

After Umar Akmal put Federal Areas into bat, Sami Aslam and Abid Ali came out all guns blazing, striking a 81-run stand in 9.5 overs. Aslam especially took the charge and smacked 46 off 31 balls, hammering the spin-bowlers for the most part of his innings.

Mohammad Hafeez and Harris Sohail recorded 65 and 60 at number three and four respectively.

Federal Areas were 236 for 4 by the time covers were called in the ground.

Junaid Khan, Fahim Ashraf, Bilal Asif, and Khushdil Shah picked up a wicket each.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Sindh will compete on Tuesday.
