Ball-by-ball clips & scorecard: Pakistan Women v Ireland Women - Match 9 - Providence
Javeria Khan’s unbeaten 74 off 52 balls was critical in Pakistan’s 38-run win over Ireland in the 9th match of the ICC Women’s World T20.
After winning the toss and opting to bowl first, Ireland bowlers struck right at the start as Metcalfe got rid of Nahida Khan as she attempted to go over mid-off but couldn’t get the timing right. After eight overs, Pakistan were reduced to 29/1 before skipper Javeria Khan took the charge.
Javeria applied pressure on the opposition by scoring quickly as Pakistan added 110 runs after that. None of the other batters couldn’t end up with a big score but Pakistan scored enough to keep give their bowlers a chance.
In reply, Ireland were reduced to 36/2 in the powerplay overs but then Sana Mir and Nashra Sandhu applied enough pressure to keep Ireland in check.
Sandhu finished with figures of 2/8 while Sana Mir, Aimen Anwar and Aliya Riaz had two wickets each.
Javeria Khan was declared player of the match for her magnificent 74 off 52 balls.
