Half-centuries from Ryan Rickelton and Rassie van der Dussen followed by a strong bowling display from the spinners paved the way for the Jozi Stars to secure a thumping 60-run win over the Paarl Rocks in the 5th match of the Mzansi Super League.
The two openers shared a 155-run opening stand to help the Chris Gayle-less side amass 209 for two in their 20 overs. Rickelton plundered 91 off 59 balls while his opening partner Van der Dussen struck 78 off 49 balls.
In reply, Paarl Rocks lost Klinger early in the peace but their skipper Henry Davids displayed an impressive stroke play. He powered 60 off just 36 balls which included four boundaries and four maximums. Apart from the skipper, Stars’ spinners Simon Harmer and Eddie Leie shared six wickets themselves to shut down the chances of Rocks winning this game.
Spinners Simon Harmer (3/22) and Eddie Leie (3/33) bowled out Rocks for 149 in 18.4 overs, which was a poor effort considering they put up 202 for six on their way to a one-run loss to the Tshwane Spartans.
Ryan Rickelton was declared man of the match for his 91 off 59 balls.
