Asked to bat first, RPS were lethargic for the most part of the innings despite 50s from Rahane and Tiwary, Pune were 121/3 in 18 overs. But a Dhoni show in the last 2 overs meant that RPS 41 in last 2 overs to push RPS to a respectable total.
What should have been a modest target for the hosts, MI were restricted to 142, courtesy some brilliant bowling from Shardul Thakur and Washington Sundar on a tricky pitch. Strikes at regular intervals didn’t let Mumbai to form partnership, eventually leaving to much at the end.
While RPS are guaranteed a place in the final, Mumbai will have another go against the winner from the eliminator between SRH and KKR.
