The identity of the sixth team for the third edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) was revealed Thursday as Schon Group bought Multan franchise at a staggering price of $5.2 million per year.
The successful bidder was declared through a tweet by the PSL administration.
Multan has also become the most expensive franchise to join the premier domestic T20 competition – as compared to Karachi Kings which were sold for $2.6 million per year in the first auction.
The first two edition of the PSL saw five teams competing with each other for the winner’s trophies. With the addition of the sixth team, the tournament is all set to grow with the number of matches being increased as well.
Meanwhile, according to league’s chairman Najam Sethi, four matches apiece will be played in Karachi and Lahore in the third edition; great news for Pakistani cricket fans who have been starved of international cricket in the country.
