There was a huge mix-up between Luke Ronchi and Kane Williamson in the 9th over while running between the wickets. Australian wicketkeeper Matthew Wade couldn’t remove the bails in time to get rid of Ronchi, who was batting on 24 at that time. Ronchi had another repreive on 54 when Mitchell Starc put his catch down.
Despite the hype of the Aussie pace attack, Luke Ronchi seemed unnerved. During the 13th over the Kiwi opener hit Pat Cummins for 11 runs in 3 balls. He struck a six over third man which was followed by a four on an attempted pull shot. Ronchi's 43 ball 65 is his highest score against Australia and his first 50 for New Zealand in two and a half years.
Josh Hazlewood struck thrice in the second last over of the Kiwi innings to get rid of Adam Milne, Mitchell Satner and Trent Boult. Hazlewood was instrumental in taking wickets at regular intervals; he got rid of Niel Broom and Jimmy Neesham just when Kiwis would have liked to accelerate.
Adam Milne got rid of the dangerous Aaron Finch with his extra pace. In the rain-affected game he only got to bowl 2 overs yet he showed how dangerous he can be in the games to follow. He ended up taking 2 wickets.
