Defending champions India crush Bangladesh by nine wickets in the second semi-final of the ICC Champions Trophy to face Pakistan in the Final at the Oval on Sunday. India started the tournament as favorites; they lived up to everyone’s expectations by delivering another clinical performance to trump Bangladesh.
India were chasing a meager target of 265, the openers had to make sure they didn’t give away early wickets. Rohit Sharma made the most of this situation, he went on to score his 11th ODI hundred, his first this year, his first in England and his second consecutive hundred against Bangladesh in ICC tournament. Player of the match Sharma hit 15 fours and 1 six in his innings of 123 not out off 129.
The rest of the Indian bowlers were bamboozled by the Tamim, Mushfiqur partnership when Kohli decided to bring in the part-timer Kedar Jadhav. Jadhav’s introduction into the attack in the 26th over proved to be a masterstroke. He denied any boundaries to the set batsmen; in his second over he broke the partnership of 123 runs by getting the all important wicket of Tamim Iqbal who is the second highest scorer in the tournament. Mushfiqur Rahim fell soon after in the 36th over, these two wickets proved to be the turning point for India.
