Matthew Wade, D'Arcy Short, Jofra Archer and co. led Hobart Hurricanes to a six-wicket win over the Melbourne Stars in the 7th match of the Big Bash League.
Short, who was named Man of the Match for the second consecutive time, took two key wickets of Larkin and Dwayne Bravo as Matthew Wade elected to field first before smashing 34 off 22 balls to get Hurricanes off to a solid start in pursuit of 156.
Wade's 52 (37) anchored the Hurricanes throughout their pursuit of 156 – before Jofra Archer’s 3 for 25 had restricted the opposition to 155.
Wade and McDermott’s 52-run partnership was a clinical point in the match which took the game away from the visitors.
George Bailey 27* (18) also chipped in with valuable runs as the former guided the Hurricanes home with eight balls to spare with Simon Milenko unbeaten on the other end.
Earlier, Glenn Maxwell (47) gave the Stars some hope, sharing an 87-run partnership for the second wicket with Nick Larkin (45).
But just as the duo looked like building a formidable total, both men fell seven balls apart to stifle their innings.
Some late hitting from Marcus Stoinis (22 off 15) helped the Stars past 150, but their total under par.
