Ball-by-ball details & scorecard: Hobart Hurricanes v Sydney Sixers - Match 19 - Hobart
A D’Arcy Short half-century alongside some big late hitting from middle-order batsmen George Bailey and Simon Milenko steered the Hurricanes home against Sydney Sixers.
Short struck 64 off 42 balls - including five boundaries and three sixes - to chase down the Sixers' 161 with one ball to spare.
Late blows from veteran George Bailey (30 off 17 balls) got the Hurricanes into a position where they needed just five off the final over.
However, a revitalised Bailey was caught on the second ball of the last over to a diving effort from Moises Henriques setting up a tense finish.
Hobart snuck a two then a single with James Faulkner and Simon Milenko at the crease, before Milenko hit a leg-side boundary on the penultimate ball to secure victory.
Earlier, Daniel Hughes top scored with 61 from 40 balls including five fours and two sixes while sharing a 67-run stand with skipper Moises Henriques to rescue the Sixers from a tricky 2-27 during the powerplay.
Hurricanes off-spinner Johan Botha inflicted early damage on his long-time former side, removing both openers Joe Denly and Justin Avendano, to finish with 3-22 from his four overs.
Henriques (31 off 24 balls) looked in good touch before he was run out by Short off his bowling.
James Faulkner also picked up 3-36 from his four overs, including two scalps in the final over, after the undefeated Hurricanes won the toss and sent the Sixers into bat.
Star Hurricane Jofra Archer claimed 1-36 from his four overs - the dangerous Josh Philippe caught Doolan in the deep.
It was a solid 8-161 tally from the Sydney Sixers, but no match for the expert chasing tactics of the Hobart Hurricanes.
