Mujeeb, Lynn secure first win of the tournament for Heat

Ball-by-ball details & scorecard: Perth Scorchers v Brisbane Heat - Match 21 - Perth

Brisbane registered their first win of the Big Bash League season by downing Perth in a thrilling contest.

A disciplined bowling performance by the Brisbane Heat led by 17-year-old Mujeeb Ur Rahman saw them restrict the Perth to 6-134 in the 21st match of the Big Bash League.

After winning the bat flip, Heat sent the Scorchers into bat first on a green looking deck that ended up playing a little slow with free-flowing scoring difficult for the home team on Saturday.

The Heat bowlers, led by Afghani spinner Mujeeb, claimed 2-10 in four overs. He had Michael Klinger stumped for 26 and Mitch Marsh caught by captain Chris Lynn for 11.

Ben Cutting (2-41), Brendan Doggett (1-23), James Pattinson (1-30) and Josh Lalor (0-25) contributed as Heat limited the Scorchers to just 6-134 in 20 overs.

The Scorchers' never really got going even though even though Klinger and Bancroft put together 56 runs for the first wicket. That ended through a spectacular diving Brendon McCullum catch in the deep to dismiss Bancroft off Cutting.

In reply, Nathan Coulter Nile struck twice to remove the Heat openers Max Bryant and Brendon McCullum.

But Chris Lynn and Matt Renshaw added 39 off the next 31 balls to add some stability to a straightforward chase. There was more calamity to come though, as Scorchers hit back with wickets of the pair and Jimmy Peirson in the space of two overs to reduce Heat to 92 for 5 in the 13th over.

Joe Burns and Cutting then took over and dashed Scorchers' hopes of securming a win. The pair took Heat past the finish line with 10 balls to spare.
